This is a free event designed for members of the public clinical mental health workforce in Victoria, (staff employed at Area Mental Health Services, Forensicare or mental health staff from RCH). For example, a social worker working in mental health at Austin Health. Staff from MHCSSs, ACCHOs, AOD or other partner organisations may also attend. Please note, if you do register for this event and it is not clear you are part of the intended audience, your registration will be confirmed two weeks prior to the event start date, or earlier.
IMHA has a Senior Consumer Consultant that has been involved in the development of this training – the training has also been produced in consultation from IMHA’s Speaking From Experience (SFE) - consumer advisory group.

This event will cover:
- Understanding and increased knowledge of supported decision making in a mental health context, including using Supported Decision Making mechanisms under the Mental Health Act 2014
- An understanding of how to put supported decision making into practice through interactive activities.
- An understanding of some of the benefits of supported decision making for consumers and clinicians
The training incorporates practical scenarios and small group work.
